A GoNoodle linky party

I am so excited to link up with Elizabeth from one of my favorite blogs Kickin It In Kindergarten and Gonoodle. I am slightly obsessed with GoNoodle and so are my kiddos. It is such a great way to get kids up and moving when you are forced to have indoor recess or when you have that extra five minutes to spare and you need to get out the wiggles. 1. My favorite GoNoodel brain break is the new "Pop Se Ko"by KooKoo Kangaroo. It is so catchy, and all the people on the video crack me up. This is also my kiddos favorite one too. Almost daily they ask me if they can "Pop Se Ko".

2. My happy place at the moment (albeit "of all times") is Disneyland. I usually am down there during any break that we have at school, but this year the last time I went was in June. I am ashamed to call myself an Annual Passholder.

3. My Guilty Pleasure: The Bachelor!! It may have just started a week ago, but I am already addicted! I may know nothing about farming, or Iowa but I would gladly learn for Chris!

4. Keep Calm and Keep blogging!! This has been super crazy week for me, and I have a million things that I am doing, but at the end of the day blogging, and creating new products for Teachers Pay Teachers is something that I am loving and is my calm down at the end of a long day.

If all else fails…use Santa...

We can do it!!! Only 4 1/2 more days (yes, I am getting that specific) of jingle bells, snowmen, and telling kids "Yes, our elf really does report back to Santa. No, I don't think Santa would like that very much". 

As this is our last week before Christmas break, my jet setting kinders are wrapping up their holiday tour around the world. I used Rachelle Smith's AMAZING Holidays Around the World unit. You can find it here We have been to Italy, The Netherlands, Israel, and Mexico just in the past week! My students are utterly fascinated by our giant world map, and being able to pick out locations that we have "been" to. It has been such a great way to incorporate social studies, writing, and even math. This is definitely something I plan on building on and adding to throughout the year. 

I wish all of you out there an amazing, fun filled last week with your kiddos!

He's Back...

This is my absolute favorite time of the year, and my most favorite part of teaching kindergarten. The kids are so excited during the holidays and bringing the Elf on the Shelf always adds that extra kick we need! This year, my class named our elf "Spot". It was either Spot, or Johnny the Zombie Slayer. I may have miscounted when counting up the votes. JTZS just doesn't have that ring to it. My goal this year, was to create a whole themed unit around our classroom elf. Ever since I was little, I wanted to be a spy. So I thought it would be fun to create a unit where the kiddos are the super sleuths and their mission is to find out where Spot is hiding every day. Each day the kids write in their spy journals describing and drawing where our elf hides every day.

The kids absolutely loved it! They even asked me where their "spy gear" was. It's such a great way to add a writing component to something that really hooks the kids as it is. 

My "Catch that Elf" Interactive Journal is differentiated and comes with two types of journals, a "Goodbye elf" letter, and some other themed activities including a sight word game, and ten frame match up. If you have a classroom elf, then this is the pack for you!

Lets talk about the 5 senses...

I "mustache" you a question...

I have become slightly obsessed with the mustache motif over the past few months. I have no idea why and where that obsession came from. However, I have felt the need to bring it into my classroom. The first item up on the mustache agenda was doing a Mustache Measuring activity. This past week, we have been learning how to measure using different items. To make things fun, I bought fake little mustaches for all the kiddos and myself of course to wear while we were measuring different length mustaches. The kids had a blast. 

I then happened to run into a fabulous new website called The Night Owl. You guys seriously have to check out this  site. They are a graphic design company based in South Florida who  create adorable things for teachers including tshirts and prints for your classroom. Not only does she sell things, but she also has a teachers lounge where she features teachers who share their tips and secrets for a successful classroom. Check out my darling tshirt I scooped up on their shop

It went along perfect with my week of mustache activities. The kiddos thought it was hilarious.
